    What a wonderfull explanation! Wery well done. I am wondering one thing: Why does some older small engines have timing contacts, when this shows, that is it not necesary? Cheers from Denmark

    What is the function of the spring on the T screw? And is it essential? I noticed in this video the spring is only present in the first view of it but none of the rest? Ive a Husqvarna 460 rancher and accidentally backed the screw all the way out and lost the spring. Managed to retrieve the screw with pliers and put it back without the spring and tuned the carburetor including idle speed. Saw sounds good and Works great again, but i dont want to put it to real use until i figure this out. I figured it just helps keep the adjustment in place like a locknut?

    I have 8E20-76-5812P on my Hyundai 18 inch bar, any explanation what the spec is?

    • @TheRepairSpecialist
      @TheRepairSpecialist День назад

      Ok, all I can say about the codes on the chainsaw from my perspective is the following but please don’t quote me on this: The code on the bar of your Hyundai chainsaw, `8E20-76-5812P`, likely provides information about the specific chain bar model, dimensions, and other characteristics. Here's a breakdown of what the code may signify: 1. **8E20**: This could represent a specific model or series of the chainsaw bar, possibly indicating the type of bar or material it is made from. The exact meaning might be specific to the manufacturer. 2. **76**: This number usually refers to the **drive link count**. The drive links are the parts of the chain that sit in the bar groove and engage with the drive sprocket. A count of 76 means your chain has 76 drive links. 3. **5812**: This sequence typically refers to the **bar length and pitch**. - The first two digits (`58`) might refer to the **bar length** in centimeters or a specific product code related to the bar length. - The last two digits (`12`) likely refer to the **pitch** of the chain, which is the distance between three consecutive rivets on the chain divided by two. A pitch of `.325"` or `3/8"` is common, but in your case, `12` might correspond to a specific measurement used by Hyundai. 4. **P**: This might indicate a specific type of chain bar, like a **professional** or **pico** bar, or it could denote the profile of the bar (e.g., a narrow-kerf bar). These codes are specific to the manufacturer, so the exact interpretation can vary. It would be best to consult the chainsaw's manual or contact Hyundai support for precise information tailored to your model.

    For those small brass screws I believe you shouid be using low strength purple loctite. It's possible those small brass screws will shear off before unscewing using blue Loctite.

    Am I right to assume you do this when engine is cold?

    • @TheRepairSpecialist
      @TheRepairSpecialist День назад

      Yes you should adjust the valve clearances on your small petrol engine when it's cold. This ensures the most accurate adjustment because the metal components haven't expanded from heat. It's a good idea to check your engine's manual for the exact procedure, but generally, cold adjustments are recommended.

    Is it a problem cranking engine with plug wire off the plug and grounded. Or not grounded?

    • @TheRepairSpecialist
      @TheRepairSpecialist 3 дня назад

      It can put strain on the coil if the engine is cranking without the plug being grounded, so it is always best to ground out the plug if you are cranking the engine. 👍

    The file holder is not just an angle guide, it also holds the file up at the right height to grind the underside of the top edge of the tooth, and not digging down into the chain. I wish I had one of those file holders! I just do it this way. :)

    I recently had to replace the valve cover gasket on my mower and decided it would be a good time to check and adjust the valve lash since the cover would be off and the machine is now a couple of years old. I got it back together and now the rpm are much higher, probably over speed but I dont have a tach to co firm, and it is running noticeably louder. Adjuating the spring arm has zero influence on the speed and only if I physically move the governor arm does the speed change. What is going on? Anyone have any idea?

    This is a good example of too large of tappet clearance. This is what I was worried about with my motorcycle when it would get hot, and then it would lose power and stall. Turned out to be the opposite. Great video! Simple and straight to the point!
